Novartis today announced that it will present 19 scientific abstracts at the 59th Annual Scientific Meeting of the American Headache Society (June 8-11, 2017, Boston, USA). Pfizer Inc. (NYSE:PFE) announced today that the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA) granted Fast Track designation to tafamidis, the company's investigational treatment for transthyretin cardiomyopathy (TTR-CM). This rare disease is associated with progressive heart failure and is universally fatal.(1,2,3) Currently in Phase 3 clinical development for TTR-CM, tafamidis is being evaluated for its potential to reduce mortality and cardiovascular-related hospitalizations.(4)

Bristol-Myers Squibb Company (NYSE:BMY) announced today it has entered into a clinical research collaboration with Novartis to investigate the safety, tolerability and efficacy of Opdivo (nivolumab) and Opdivo + Yervoy (ipilimumab) regimen in combination with Mekinist® (trametinib), as a potential treatment option for metastatic colorectal cancer in patients with microsatellite stable tumors where the tumors are proficient in mismatch repair (MSS mCRC pMMR).
